Microneedling Aftercare: How to take care of your skin after Microneedling?

Micro-needling Aftercare

Thinking to try Microneedling to reverse the signs of aging? Well, that’s a great idea! There are a number of benefits that a Microneedling treatment can bring to your aging skin! This amazing treatment can boost collagen production as well as give your skin a gorgeous, youthful glow. It can also reduce your fine lines & deep wrinkles. Furthermore, it can help you get rid of hyperpigmentation as well as repair your visible scars. According to a recent study, almost 100 percent participants reported a noticeable difference & vast improvement in the appearance of their acne scars after a microneedling treatment.

The procedure usually takes about an hour and is not overly painful. Done in the hands of a trained professional dermatologist or aesthetician, there should be minimal pain or side effects from microneedling treatments. The healing time is just overnight. You will need 3-5 sessions spaced 5-6 weeks apart. After you complete your sessions, your skin will look & feel better. However, your microneedling journey doesn’t end with the treatment. You will have to take proper aftercare measures in order to maintain the results.

Microneedling Aftercare Tips

Avoid Skincare Products that have active ingredients

Do not use any skincare products that have active ingredients such as Alpha Hydroxy Acids, Beta Hydroxy Acid or Retinol (Vitamin A) for at least 72 hours post-treatment, as these can irritate your skin even more. Use only products that your dermatologists or aesthetician has recommended.

You can return to regular skin care products after 3 days.

Stay out of the sun

After the microneedling procedure, you should avoid sun exposure at least for three days. Also, you should not apply any chemical sunscreen immediately after the treatment.

Avoid any makeup application

Do not put on makeup for 24 to 72 hours after your microneedling treatment so that your skin can breathe as well as recover.

Use a cooling face mask

You may experience some redness or skin inflammation after the treatment. Using a cooling and hydrating face mask will help you reduce the redness and inflammation.

Try Not To Sweat

Avoid strenuous exercises for at least 72 hours because if you sweat, your pores will reopen, & the bacteria on your skin will enter the skin punctures, which can lead to infection or an adverse skin reaction. You should also avoid steam rooms, saunas or hot baths until redness is gone.

Stay hydrated

You should drink plenty of water to help your skin heal & rejuvenate faster. Also, you should try to avoid alcohol or caffeine.

Use a gentle cleanser to wash your face

Do not wash your skin at all during the first 3 days. After that, you should use a gentle cleanser as well as lukewarm water to wash your face.

Use broad spectrum sunscreen once your skin has healed

To prevent sun damage as well as pigmentation, you must use a broad-spectrum sunscreen after your skin has healed.
